Located in South Central Idaho, Christensen Machine, Inc. (CMI) is one of the Northwest's
premier precision and general machining shops. CMI began operations in 1980 with its founder Chris Christensen utilizing his 20+ years of experience in machining. In 1994 Robert and Michael Christensen
joined the shop adding machining technology and business administration skills to the expanding operations.In 1995 CMI expanded its Computer Numeric Control (CNC) capabilities by purchasing a
DAEWOO 10HC lathe
with a 14" swing, 20" centers and a 10 tool holder. With a growing customer base CMI's labor force grew to six full time employees. An office manager, production assistant and a CNC operator were added.
In 1999 CMI out grew the original location and moved to a newly constructed 5,000 square foot facility. The new facility includes two 6-ton bridge cranes.The expansion not only included a new building
but also three new pieces of equipment. The CNC Division received a 2000 DAEWOO DMV-500 mill with a 20"X40"X20" capacity, 30 tool holder and a 4th axis. The General Machine Division received a
DAEWOO DA110T horizontal boring mill and a Marvel PA 13/2 saw. The boring mill is equipped with a 4.330" spindal, 48"X48" rotary table, Digital Read Out (DRO), and a 11,000 lbs. loading capacity,
50"X 65"X90" travel capcity. The Marvel 13" round saw will shuttle 3 tons.
The labor force grew to include two part-time general machinist and a full-time CNC mill operator. CMI's workforce has a combined
120+ years of machining experiences. This experience has become invaluable to such customers as Boise Cascade, Miskin Scraper Works, AMS Environmental Services, Kodiak Northwest, Pickett Equipment,
Double L Manufacturing, and others.
Support machines include 3 manual lathes with DRO, 19" to 28" swing and 80" to 120" centers, 2 manual mills with DRO, an 125 ton vertical hydraulic
press, 5 foot arm radial drill press, Miller-Matic 300 welder and other equipment.
